Closet Cleansing Consequences

As you know, we are in the process of packing and moving out of our apartment in the midst of renovating our house we recently bought. There were many things that Brandon and I agreed that we didn’t want to move with us to the house, so back in September we had a garage sale. While we were preparing for the garage sale I did a massive cleanse of my closet and ended up purging a large amount of clothing. Some was sold at the garage sale, some I gave away to sisters or friends, but the majority of it I donated. It felt so good to just clean out items I no longer wore but was just saving for “Well, maybe someday.” (Don’t ever do that!) The only problem with cleaning out your closet is when you’ve worn all your favorites, you have no backup options! That’s exactly what has been happening to me lately. Since we are famous for putting off laundry until we no longer have clean socks, I had been running out of acceptable shirts to wear to work. So rather than change my laundry washing habits, the only natural choice for me is to go shopping.

What I really need in my closet now is long sleeve shirts. (Not 3/4 length- don’t get me started on those!) I stopped at Gap on my way home from work one day and among other things found this adorable baseball style blouse. The core of it is a thin flowing material while the sleeves are a warm comfortable cotton. I paired it with my coral pants (coincidentally also from Gap) to brighten it, and added pearls to make it more feminine. This shirt has definitely become a new closet staple.

By the way, this photo shoot was taken in the back yard of our house. As you know, the front yard has the river, but our backyard is a quaint area with a small leaning empty shed and some wise old trees with many stories I’m sure.

Do you ever have a closet cleanse, or something similar? Tell me about it!
